Today was an awesome New Year’s Day. I really enjoyed kicking off the year in church and the message was off the chain. Our pastor, Rev. Marvin T. Smith (Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church) asked if we might be suffering from Naamonitis. Check out the story in the Bible for the background (2 Kings 5:1-12). Here are a couple of great take-a-ways:
Naamonitis simply is the unwillingness to do the little things that will change our lives forever. Keep in mind that God may use the least person you expect to set you up for a miracle. Further, He may ask for your obedience in small matters (consistent obedience) before you will reap big returns. We must simply do what He says! Another great word was sometimes to get clean you have to get dirty — paraphrased…stop trippin’ and start dippin’. When you read the story that will make perfect sense.
I’m committed to eradicate any signs of Naamonitis in my life and encourage you to do the same. It is written that if we are faithful over a few things (often the little things) we can be ruler over many (Matthew 25:21, 23). Focus on less doing them well and expect great things this year. Happy, Prosperous, and Miraculous New Year to you!!
